STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Investigating, designing, and building with hands-on, project-based learning is at the core of how we learn in the STEM Lab. With the guidance of the Next Generation Science and Engineering Standards we have created a unique STEM curriculum that covers an array of subjects in both the Primary and Middle School that include, but are not limited to robotics, architecture, magnetism and forces, engineering, geology, aviation, 3D design, biology of plants/animals, game design, and astronomy.  In middle school, STEM classes include; automation and robotics, digital safety, design and modeling, and Computer Science for Innovators and Makers (CSIM). Within these areas of concentration students will explore topics such as:

  • The way robots are used in today’s world and their impact on society and the environment.
  • Students will use 3D modeling software to create various objects such as houses, playgrounds and therapeutic toys for children who have cerebral palsy.
  • Students will explore computer science concepts and will learn about programming for the physical world by blending hardware design and software development.
  • Students will use the VEX Robotics platform to design, build and program real-world objects such as windmills, robotic arms and vehicles.
